We’re here to help you reach your full potential

We can support you to make positive changes around drugs and alcohol, be that stopping completely, cutting down, or supporting you to use in safer way.

What are club drugs?

Many of the same drugs can often be found at house parties or raves at clubs, often referred to as ‘Party Drugs’. They are normally used to enhance social experiences and feel more intense emotions and sensations.

MDMA (Ecstasy)

MDMA is a stimulant drug with euphoric and mildly psychedelic properties, rising to popularity in the dance music scene in the 1990s. MDMA is generally sold as pills or powder/crystals, mainly taken orally or snorted.

Ketamine

Ketamine is a dissociative drug with psychedelic properties, regularly used in veterinary and paediatric medicine as an anaesthetic. Ketamine is usually snorted but is also occasionally injected. It is generally sold as a white powder or in small glass-like shards.

LSD

LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is a psychedelic drug. LSD generally comes absorbed onto a small square of paper and is sometimes available as a clear, tasteless liquid or dropped onto sweets/sugar cubes.

Other drugs

MDMA, Ketamine and Cocaine are just a few examples of party drugs. If you would like to find out more information about party drugs, and information that may keep you safer, please visit The Drop. It's our one-stop-shop for all the information you may need.

How can I begin to make changes?

We start with small steps - no change is too big or too small. If you decide not to change, that’s okay too. We can help you stay safe, cut down, or stop altogether.

Our team of doctors, nurses, and experienced Horizons Workers will create a plan to help you reach your goals.

What support is available?

All our services are confidential, free, and open to everyone in Bristol. Our friendly Horizons team can walk you through the support options available for your opioid use, making it easy for you to choose what’s best for you.

  • Advice and resources to reduce harm

We understand that you may need, or choose, to continue using opioids while receiving support. Not everyone aims to stop using them, and that’s okay. Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible with our harm reduction support, offering practical advice to minimise risks, such as safe usage practices and overdose prevention.

  • One-to-one Support

If you would prefer a more personalised approach, you can receive support directly with a member of the Horizons team. They'll often have lived experience of what you're going through, offering a confidential and safe space to confide in without any fear of judgement.

  • Workshops

Our workshops are a great starting point for those considering support for their drug use. They offer a welcoming space where our team offers valuable insights and practical advice, helping you make informed decisions with confidence.

  • Clinical intervention

If it is helpful to treat your specific needs, our clinical experts may prescribe you opiate substitute medication, such as methadone or buprenorphine. You, your Horizons worker, and the clinical team will work together to design a medication plan in line with your goals.

  • Rehab or detox

The Horizons team can support you in accessing opiate rehabilitation or detox services, either at home or at a residential facility. During this process, you'll receive support to manage withdrawal symptoms and to make positive changes in your daily life.

Where can I access support?

We understand that everyone is unique and that’s why we believe in offering flexible options, so you can choose what works best for you when it comes to accessing support. No matter your preference, you’ll find it easy to obtain the resources, information and treatment you need.

  • Over 50s

The '50+ Crowd' is a welcoming weekly social group for people over 50 who have experienced or are currently dealing with challenges relating to alcohol or drug use.
