What support is available?
Our team of friendly professionals have lived experience and a good understanding of the criminal justice system. They know the ropes, have faced similar challenges, and are keen to help support you from the start to empower you to take that next step in your life.
As well as substance use and wellbeing support, we support individuals to live independent, crime free lives. We all have unique personal experiences that impact us differently, so Horizons support for drugs and alcohol aims to be inclusive of that.
How to access our support
Everyone is unique, so we believe in being flexible. We’ll offer you different options, and you can choose what works best for you.
Horizons are also not just there to support making changes to your substance use but we can sign post you to a much wider community network, all to help you create a new support system.
Advice to reduce harm
It’s not everyone’s goal to stop using drugs or alcohol, and that's okay, so we provide harm reduction advice to help people keep themselves and others as safe as possible.
One-to-one support
You will receive support directly with a member of our specialist Criminal Justice team, who often have lived experience of what you're going through. They will offer you a confidential and safe space to confide in.
Rehab and detox
If this is the right option for you, Horizons can support you in accessing inpatient or community detox if you need clinical support to help you reduce your alcohol or drug use.
Frequently asked questions
We understand you may have questions about our support. We've answered some of the most frequently asked questions to help provide some guidance.
Do I have to pay to use the service?
No! Our drug and alcohol support services are completely free of charge.
Will anyone find out I am using your service?
All your information is kept safe and not shared outside of our organisation without your explicit permission. We are only required to share information with other professionals if there is a serious risk to you or someone else.
I know someone who might have a problem. Can I refer them?
It’s brilliant that you can see how support could benefit the person – but they must be aware of the referral. You can accompany the person to support them attending. We also understand that substance use can affect friends and family, so we offer a dedicated service for the family, friends, and carers of the people we support.
Still have questions?
Many people here have been on the same path as you and are happy to answer any other questions you have. Please get in touch to speak to a member of our friendly Horizons team.
