The 50+ Crowd
The 50+ Crowd is a welcoming weekly social group for people over 50 who have experienced or are currently dealing with challenges related to alcohol or drug use.
It’s a space to connect with others, share experiences, and take part in activities in a relaxed, judgement-free environment. Whether you’re looking for companionship, support, or just a friendly chat, you’re always welcome.

We understand you may have questions about our support. We've answered some of the most frequently asked questions to help provide some guidance.
Do I have to pay to use the service?
No! Our drug and alcohol support services are completely free of charge.
Will anyone find out I am using your service?
We understand how important your privacy is, and we treat your information with care and confidentiality. Horizons is a partnership, and we are joint data controllers with the local authority. As part of this, we share data with two other organisations commissioned by Bristol City Council, Addiction Recovery Agency (ARA) and the Substance Use Support Team (SUST). This helps us work together to give you the right support.
We would only share your information outside of this partnership without your consent if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of others.
I know someone who might have a problem. Can I refer them?
It’s brilliant that you can see how support could benefit the person – but they must be aware of the referral. You can accompany the person to support them attending. We also understand that substance use can affect friends and family, so we offer a dedicated service for the family, friends, and carers of the people we support.
