We’re here to help you reach your full potential

You might think you’re having one too many drinks a night. You might be having wider issues with your alcohol use. Horizons will meet you where you’re at and offer different options and you can choose what works best for you.

What are the effects of drinking too much alcohol?

The adverse effects of alcohol can range from acting in ways you might later regret to develop serious health issues from long-term drinking.

No matter how much you drink, there are ways to manage your relationship with alcohol, whether you want to cut down or stop altogether.

Whether it’s your first time connecting with a drug and alcohol service or you regularly come to us for support, Horizons is here to support you in navigating your relationship with alcohol.

What support is available?

All our services are confidential, free, and open to everyone in Bristol. Our friendly Horizons team can walk you through the support options available for your opioid use, making it easy for you to choose what’s best for you.

  • Advice and resources to reduce harm

We understand that you may need, or choose, to continue using opioids while receiving support. Not everyone aims to stop using them, and that’s okay. Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible with our harm reduction support, offering practical advice to minimise risks, such as safe usage practices and overdose prevention.

  • One-to-one Support

If you would prefer a more personalised approach, you can receive support directly with a member of the Horizons team. They'll often have lived experience of what you're going through, offering a confidential and safe space to confide in without any fear of judgement.

  • Workshops

Our workshops are a great starting point for those considering support for their drug use. They offer a welcoming space where our team offers valuable insights and practical advice, helping you make informed decisions with confidence.

  • Clinical intervention

If it is helpful to treat your specific needs, our clinical experts may prescribe you opiate substitute medication, such as methadone or buprenorphine. You, your Horizons worker, and the clinical team will work together to design a medication plan in line with your goals.

  • Rehab or detox

The Horizons team can support you in accessing opiate rehabilitation or detox services, either at home or at a residential facility. During this process, you'll receive support to manage withdrawal symptoms and to make positive changes in your daily life.

Where can I access support?

Everyone is unique, so we believe in being flexible. Whether you want to visit one of our service hubs, join a community group, or access support online, you’ll find it easy to access resources, information, or treatment.

  • Women

At Horizons, we provide women-only spaces where you can receive confidential one-on-one support and join our special 'Women's Morning Sessions'. Each week we host craft or workshop activities and invite local businesses or services to share opportunities available to you.
